After spending a LOT of time on publishing their books, the second graders celebrated with a Publishing Party! They shared their writing, exchanged compliments, and enjoyed popcorn. I am SO PROUD of the hard work all of the students put into drafting, editing, proofreading, publishing, and illustrating their books.
Second graders celebrated great behavior by choosing...EXTRA READING! We got cozy today and enjoyed some extra reading time!
What better way to learn about something than having an expert come in! Jeff Edmunson was so kind to come in and visit our second graders. He was a wonderful presenter and the students learned so much from him.
This week our class has been hard at work to publish our fiction books. Everyone has worked so hard and is so proud of their work. I captured a few snapshots of the hard work. Books will be on display at conferences and showcased on Seesaw for parents to enjoy!
The past two weeks we have been reading fiction stories. We have wondered and discussed stories as a class and with partners. This week we put the strategy to independent practice. Second grader selected a good fit book and used a post-it note to record their thinking. They then paired up to share the book they were reading and something they were wondering about the story. Next week we will practice wondering with non-fiction text!
